We painted the planks of wood the colors they are. Then we went in and pounced the wood grain pattern and painted over with black.
The blue unit was painted the same way as the first image, except to save time we painted in the lines without using a sharpie first. The tables, benches and boxes were painted and the lines were all free handed.
The unit was painted with a stencil. After painting each side the necessary color, we painted the stencil gray.

The only thing that was painted in this show was the floor and that huge flag.

The flag is 18ft tall and was a beast. The painting on it went by fairly quickly because we made it a dirty American Flag. We did different colors of scumbles to make it dirty.

I worked a lot on the floor. We laid streaky colors in a linear pattern. After that we splattered white and black all over, having more splatters in certain parts.

This set was really light paint wise. All we painted were the blocks and the "sun" hidden behind the paper.
I worked on the blocks and marbling them. Here is a closer image.

We worked a lot with aging the scenery. Everything had to be painted a base coat and then have dirty washes to make it appear older.
In this photo you can see the walls and how we added shadow to the corners and where the walls meet to make it look aged. The shutter also had a whole process of aging too.

We made everything look really dirty. This seems to be a pattern in Scenic Designers at Texas State.

Same process as the previous picture, except we had to watch out for drippings on the sides. Everything we painted was a wet blend of 3 or 4 colors, so making sure nothing was dripping was really important.

I helped with the doors, crown molding and baseboards.
The left image is the wood grain baseboard I painted and the one on the right is the floor. The Scenic Designer asked me to make them match as much as I could.
